Stretch to Avoid Injury

I hope everyone is well.

I just want to take a few moments and talk about the importance of stretching and warming up.

Today I had a patient who reported with severe neck stiffness. This guy couldn’t turn his head in any direction let alone try to put his chin to his chest.

The problem happened when he didn’t properly warm up with light cardio activity and stretching.

I recommend 15-minute cardio/light aerobic activity. After cardio you should stretch for 10 minutes emphasizing the body parts you are going to exercise.

If you experience pain during an exercise program, STOP. Don’t push it. You will most likely become injured and worse yet lose exercise time.

Remember listen to your body. Don’t ignore pain as pain is a warning signal to stop and re-evaluate what you are doing
